31st August
Yesterday was a bad day. I had the scan, but they failed to get good images of the lump under my arm, so the doctors have been unable to assess what is going on there and I am waiting now for another scan!
What it did show was that the lump in my stomach had grown and that there is also a new significant lump at the back of my abdomen which has appeared in the last couple of the weeks. I'm afraid that pretty much means the end of the hope that the treatment I had would be enough to control spread of the cancer.
I'm still just filling in the dots, but probably the treatment had been working, but isn't enough to keep the immune system on top of the cancer any longer. I think my consultant's appointment on 17th September will be to arrange a plan for management of the cancer's progression. Until then, I think I won't know much more about prognosis other than what becomes obvious as my symptoms increase.
For now, I have to get the lump under my arm to a state where I can manage it at home, then just try to do as much enjoyable stuff as I can.
They can't get me a new scan until tomorrow which is frustrating, so I was resigned to being in hospital for the weekend, but the kind senior nurse just went off and arranged for me to go home tonight and come back tomorrow. Hopefully they may be able to discharge me tomorrow, but that will depend on what the scan shows and whether they're happy for me to move from itrtavenous to oral antibiotics and come up with a plan for dressings we can do at home.

So sorry to hear this less positive news Dave. Hope you got home to enjoy some of the good weather? We are all thinking of you and please ask if there’s anything we can do to help out. Hope to see you in the week. Love Sarah & Chris x
